International Center for Reiki Training

Description:

In 1988 the Center for Spiritual Development was founded as a non-profit organization. Its purpose was to provide spiritual development classes and sessions that included the use of Reiki therapy, past life regression therapy, guided meditation and neurolinguistic programming. In 1989, Reiki training was added to the curriculum and in 1991 our name was changed to The Center for Reiki Training, as Reiki became our only focus.

In 1997, we added International to our name because of the classes being taught in foreign countries and because of the number of students who were traveling to the US to take classes from us.

The Reiki training offered by the ICRT has evolved over the years to include a number of methods. The style we teach is a combination of the Usui/Hayashi method as taught by Mrs. Takata combined with a style based on Tibetan shamanism called Raku Kai. In 1998, after reviewing the research done in Japan, we added the Japanese Reiki techniques to our training.

Reiki

Description:

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."
