4 stars Christian principles with New Age format 2009-04-04

Reviewer: JLS

This book is for those who have no problem trusting the healing ministry of Jesus of Nazareth as presented in the Gospels, and also being open to the "new age" process of Reiki. There are many in the Christian community that would distrust Reiki being discussed alongside Jesus' healing methods. But the book does make a point that Jesus' healings through touch, empathy, and long distance prayer use the same principles taught and used in Reiki. For the author there is no disparity. The author's position is that if Jesus did it this way, and Christians are to "follow" his way, then Reiki is very compatible. The book is helpful for those who wish to integrate a healing ministry in their Christian community and churches. Most Christian healing ministries rely upon the presence of the Holy Spirit to conduct the healing power. Reiki relies more on energy movement and does not rely as much on external intervention. Despite this difference, this book is gentle in nature and can be a nice supplement to an "inclusive" Christian ministry.

5 stars Another Reiki Book for Christians 2009-02-15

Reviewer: Mahala Hare

You say it is the only one of its kind. Perhaps you'd also like to know about: "Reiki and You: Awakening the Healer Within," an early Reiki book written expressly for Christians. M.H.

5 stars Meeting a Need! 2007-02-07

Reviewer: Ronald E. Shonk

5 Stars for this book because it's, as far as I know, the only one of its kind. And as are all of Dr. Epperly's books, it is well written and easily and eagerly read. Reiki, a method and practice of hands-on and distance healing prayer, is growing in popularity around the world. It's Eastern roots and flavor may lead some more "conservative" Christians to keep their distance. But that would be their loss. Prayer transcends any specific theology, and God is God, no matter the language one uses in prayer. So this consideration of Reiki practice, and its placement within the Christian context of prayer and worship, is a valuable contribution and an ecumenical bridge-builder. To learn the gentle genius of Reiki itself, you'll need to go beyond this book. But for Christians to get "permission" to do so, here's a place to begin.

5 stars An Excellent Book on Christianity and Reiki 2006-11-15

Reviewer: J. Simpson

Being a Reiki Master and Christian I found this book informative and affirming. Reiki translated from Japanese is 'Universal Life Energy'. And who is the source of that? Ummm...
This book wonderfully explains how Reiki fits in with the Christian tradition of the laying on of hands. It speaks of healing on the emotional, spiritual and physical level.
Bruce & Ktherine Epperly's ecumenical approach to 'the laying on of hands'/Reiki speaks volumes of the healing love of God.
