2 stars Catalog of Complementary and Alternative Medicine(CAM) 2009-12-17

Reviewer: greg haught

This catalog is about CAM methods and philosophy. The essence of it is ...

1) if you're sick, then it's your fault.

2) if a particular method helps you to get better, then the method or God gets the credit.

3) if you fail to get better, then refer back to 1)

alot of people actually believe that. as the Saturday Night Live Church Lady would say, "How convenient!". but that's about what i would expect from a shrink. for some reason he shies away from child abuse injuries and birth defects. i guess those are the patient's fault, too?

not only does hope spring eternal, but it also produces it's own spring of gullibility to quench the thirst of the unscrupulous with the cash of the suffering. that is why pain and suffering are presented as a choice. if you just wish hard enough, spend enough money and make a testimonial, then you might get better.

This book would have benefited greatly from even the most amateur superficial proofreading. a very unprofessional presentation. what a surprise.

"How Can I Heal What Hurts?," Volume II of Dr. Benor's "Wholistic Healing and Bioenergies" is very important for those who wish to know more about alternatives to today's medicine. With the cost of healthcare, lack of services and insurance, this book is filled with a variety of alternative approaches to make you feel better.

An excellent point Dr. Benor makes in the beginning of his book is that wholistic healing helps one understand the meaning of illness. To understand illness you must be aware of what is going on physically as well as be in tune with your environment. He relates that many times we only tune into the physical symptoms and go to doctor's to get that fixed, when instead we should be looking at what might be causing these symptoms.

In Chapter 1, the author discusses several factors that have an impact on our health such as stress, personalities, and environment. He continues in this chapter to discuss how each impact individuals that often result in emotional distress, psychological concerns and body systems that get out of sync. Also provided in this chapter is the Life Events Questionnaire, which will indicate stressors in one's life.

Throughout the book, the author explains various types of therapy that can help individuals become more knowledgeable about their selves, as well as gives guidance on making sure that any healing process you undertake should be done with someone who is expertly trained in the field. He provides examples of case studies in each chapter along with researched support.

In addition, he provides readers with self-healing approaches and exercises in the latter part of the book. The reviewer found this book to be very informative and clearly written, with many `use caution' sentences. If you have ever wondered about self-healing or CAM therapies "How Can I Heal What Hurts?" by Daniel J. Benor, M.D., is one you must have.

5 stars Great Review Of Holistic Healing Research & Theories 2005-03-30

Reviewer: Jed Shlackman

Dr. Benor, a holistic psychiatrist, has compiled a comprehensive overview of the field of holistic health and the theories and research available on these topics. This book is timely and full of excellent analysis and references. Benor has done an impressive job of integrating information and covering a wide range of information to educate readers thoroughly about the topic. This book is worthwhile for all healing professional as well as laypersons seeking information and resources. This edition is the version of Consciousness, Bioenergy and Healing intended for the general public, although it appears to be primarily the same as the professional oriented version, just a bit less detailed in research documentation. It is good to see that this author is publishing books on an ongoing basis to keep up with developments in the ever-expanding holistic healing domain.
