If you're too busy at the moment to read Karla McLaren's book, Your Aura & Your Chakras: The Owner's Manual, this is the perfect tape for using the material right away without missing one step of the process! On this tape, Karla's clear, soft voice takes you through a series of excercises which begin your healing by creating a sanctuary--a wonderful, self-sustaining room within your own head, which allows you to join the physical qualities of vision, hearing, speaking, thinking and sensing with your spiritual life. If you've ever felt a disconnection between your physical life and your spiritual life, this tape will show you how to combine the two. This healing process makes your spiritual life a natural, normal part of your physical life, while bringing along the mental and emotional aspects of your nature.
After creating the room in your head, you'll learn to heal your aura, and then to protect and guard your newly strengthened and energized aura from damage, not only from situations in your present life, but also from the effects of earlier experiences and relationships. She gives you a way to deal with "worn out ways of behavior" which are keeping you from moving forward in your present life, and directions for changing attitudes and mindsets filled with fear and distrust which separate you from other people.
One of Karla's basic tenets is: Live in your body, and you'll be "more aware, more available, more attentive, and more competent." Amazingly, living in your body keeps you connected to your own spiritual self. To stay connected to every area of your whole self, Karla teaches you how to ground your first three chakras to the earth itself. The first chakra is dedicated to grounding you, the second to centering you, and the third is to keep you stable in a frenzied world. But these are just the beginning of the energetic purposes of the chakras.
My favorite part of the tape is the description of the colorful chakras, their place in our bodies, and their energetic purposes. Karla goes through twelve chakras, or points of energy, which can add wholeness and awareness or sit within us ignored and wasted. But Karla warns us that cleansing and healing our body, our aura, and our relationships may be emotionally overwhelming. But not to worry...rather than shutting down with the emotional rush, she teaches you how to use this emotional energy to release anger, fear, or any other emotion that comes to the surface. By dealing with our emotional selves, we can stop "spilling all over other people," and become "mature, responsible, polite and spiritual citizens." Using our energetic skills, we can learn to honor and respect the privacy of other people, as well as protecting our own privacy. And rest assured that as you move along a more spiritual path, you must be prepared to see, feel and define situations that have been hidden from you.
Karla says that this tape is about creating "a multi-layered series of energetic boundaries or protective shields for you to use to stay grounded and defined." A "defined" person is someone who knows who they are, what they want and need, and are able to ask for it. You don't have to work to fit in and be "normal." All you have to do is keep your aura strong and healthy, and it will give you loads of information about yourself and your body; keeping your chakras strong and healthy will keep you energized and aware of yourself and others. On this tape, Karla guides you through the skills you need to do both!
